Maria

Host and founder

I love to welcome new guests, enjoy life and be creative! As a person I find a lot of joy in project planning as well as going for a hike, either in the mountains or along the seaside. I want you to get the best experience when visiting Vengsøy, my home growing up, and my focus is thus to facilitate activities suited for the individual guest. No hike is to short, and you are allowed to do nothing at all here. Just relax, take a breath and enjoy life.

Nils-Jørgen

Host and founder

Nils-Jørgen can tell you a lot about the boats, fishing spots and mountain hikes. He enjoys to go skiing in the mountains to get more energy. He is the man who planned where the lodges would be built. He is an electrician and plumber, a carpenter and a painter. He's been doing housekeeping and takes care of the boats and fuels them up. He picks up, welcomes and deliver the guests at the airport. He also works at the local fishery.

So this is us. We have been together for many years and married since 2015. Together we dedicate our time to create a memorable and welcoming place for our guests. Together we have great plans for the future, we shoot for the stars.

Red lodges by the seafront

Our project

It all started with a vacation and a road trip in Lofoten, several years ago. Maria had been dreaming about doing her own business for a while and Vengsøy Rorbuer, red lodges by the sea, emerged as the perfect idea. The process of building the three lodges started after a lot of project planning, and we did most of the work ourselves. In the summer of 2018 our dream finally became reality. Have a look at the process.

Activities and experiences

And for the best experiences at Vengsøy? Go hiking, watch the beautiful natural phenomenons, bring your fishing gear, enjoy the Jacuzzi or go for a walk, it doesn't have to be as strenuous as climbing a mountain. Walk along the 6 km road to where it ends and enjoy having the mountain on one side and the sea on the other. Enjoy being in the nature

Don’t even think about it, book it! This is the most amazing place anyone could wish to stay when visiting the Tromso area in Norway.. We stayed for two days and Maria’s and family hospitality was second to none! The cabin itself was sparkling and it had a honeymoon feel it was very private and remote and the views were out of this world! We also made use of the hot tub which was quite amazing.. All in all we couldn’t recommend this place enough and will definitely re-visit.. Thanks Maria..
