About Us
Vengsøy is a small island, once shaped by fishing and life close to the sea.
Out here, the weather sets the rhythm — and it always has. For years, this was a working place. A place people depended on.
Today, it’s quieter, but the feeling is still there.
We are Maria and Nils-Jørgen. We came here with a simple idea:
to create something of our own, and to share this place with others.
Not a hotel. Not something polished or distant.
But a place that feels real.
A place to live

Life here is simple.
You arrive by ferry.
You stop by the local store.
You fill the fridge, cook your meals, and settle into the rhythm of the island.
Some days you walk along the shoreline.
Other days you head for the mountains and take in the view from the top.
In winter, you might strap on snowshoes.
Or light a fire and stay outside a little longer.
There’s plenty to do — if you want to.
And just as much space to do very little at all.
Close to nature, close to something real
Vengsøy can be quiet, but never empty.
The sea, the wind, the light — always changing.
Sometimes calm.
Sometimes raw.
It’s not about doing more.
It’s about feeling more.
Built with care
The cabins are built to be comfortable and solid — inspired by the traditional rorbu, but made for today.
Good beds, warm duvets, space to settle in.
Simple, but well thought through.
